How AI hides unequal contribution
Free-riding can take several forms: one student generates an entire section, another creates slides nobody checks or the group divides prompts instead of thinking. Set tool rules before work begins
Teachers can define approved roles for AI before the project, such as brainstorming questions, checking clarity or suggesting counterarguments. They can prohibit generating assessed content or uploading classmates' work. A brief AI-use log can record the prompt, contribution and verification without becoming a major extra assignment.
